Henry “Jon” Baniak named captain of West Virginia University police, Keyser campus

WVU Potomac State College Campus President Chris Gilmer and West Virginia University (Morgantown campus) Chief of Police Sherry St. Clair are pleased to jointly announce the appointment of Henry “Jon” Baniak as captain of the West Virginia University Police Department on the Keyser campus.

Baniak served as a captain with the Hardy County Sheriff's Department, is a former federal air marshal, served as a firearms instructor, and as a senior trooper with the West Virginia State Police.

He graduated from the West Virginia Police Academy, the Western Maryland Police Academy, and has 30 years of active and diverse professional law enforcement experience.

He earned degrees from WVU Potomac State College, Marshall University and has completed basic SWAT operations as well as urban sniper training.
